Sorry, we broke up!
Sorry it’s taken us so long to update this site but its official: we broke up. The long of the short of it is: Lexi decided to go back to school and Ryan had some personal stuff he needed to attend to. After all the dividing, the sum of the equation was Brendon and Martti. It was agreed that with out Lexi, The Divded was simply not The Divided. Martti and I deceided to move on to a new project rather than try to reform the old one. It was a hard choice to make given that The Divided rehearsals and shows and writing and all the dynamics that make rock bands fun were an integral part of our lives for the last 6 years. Not to mention the fact that we just finished a kick ass rock and roll EP.

So you are most likely wondering what happened to the EP?
Well, the EP is complete and we have it. The orginal intention was to put it out, but breaking up put a damper on that. My intention as of this writing is to release it for fucking free somewhere on the internet (most likely here). I’m not sure how it will be distributed but it will be done. As much as it’s sweet to have a physical copy of a record, the project is defunct so it seems a burden on the environment to poop all that plastic, paper and ink. It’s uneconomical to do runs of less than 1000 and we don’t feel there is enough demand for our little project to justify the cost. If you want to front the money and help us sell them we’d be happy to get the CD factory to put them out or if you know of a way that we can cheaply do a run of 100 we’d be into that as well. If you want a physical copy to pass around, feel free to download the songs (once they are updated) and burn one or get one from us. We are proud of it and happy to give them to you to enjoy.

So what are you all doing now?

Brendon - Is working with Martti and Jay Caruso on a new project tentatively called Her Still Singing Limbs. It’s entirely different than The Divided. More progressive, less confessional, twice as noisy. Like The Divided, we will be using it to destroy the world!
Brendon also has a solo project called Number Station. It’s described as a Burroughsian secret broadcast in the service of the Queen of Noise. It features loops, e-bow, guitar bow, circuit bent instruments, projections of drowning women, samples, text to speech and all the droney shoegazey noise you could ever ask for. He’ll be making a website for it soon. You can also check out various Brendon Happenings at his journal

Martti - Besides working on HSSL with B and Jay, Martti has started a yet to be named opera metal project that promises to be not only amazing but completely evil! Besides his sparkling musical career, Martti some how finds time to pursue on a second career as an international playboy. If you are interested in hiring him drop him an e-mail. Lexi- Is studying Chinese in preparation for their inevitable take over of the United States. She is working on some solo stuff as well from her personal to scale cardboard reproduction of the Forbidden City. You can contact her via her blog

Ryan- Is doing well, living the quiet life at home taking care of the ones he loves When he isn't performing devotional rituals to Kelly Clarkson, he and Brendon are saving the world via the all powerful X-Box.

In the studio:
The Divided is recording an EP entitled My Faint Heart. Look for it in late winter 2007. This is going to be NOTHING like the first CD; prepare not to be soothed. Not kidding.
